Shoe Rental and Water

For your first class, shoes are complimentary; however, after your first class, shoes may be rented for $2. Water is also available for sale at the studio for $3. We have a water refilling station available in the studio.

Class, Pricing, and Charges

Future class prices are subject to change, but we will honor your class or series of classes until the expiration date, regardless of whether there is a price increase in the interim.

In order to make a reservation, you must first buy a single class or a series of classes. Classes do expire. The expiration dates are posted in the description of the class or series of classes on the Website and the App and listed on your receipt.

Your credit/debit card will be charged for your order when you buy your class or series of classes, not when you book your bike. You shall be responsible and liable for any fees, including attorneys' fees and collection costs, that RECESS may incur in its efforts to collect any unpaid balances from you.

Reservation and Waitlist Cut-off Time

The reservation cut-off time is 15 minutes before class. Waitlist cut-off time is 30 minutes before class.

No Show and Late Cancel

The no show penalty fee is $10. You will be charged $10 if you do not show up for class and do not cancel prior to class. The late cancellation penalty fee is $10. You will be charged $10 if you do not cancel your reservation prior to 5PM the day before your reserved class.

Student Pricing

Undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in a US degree granting college or university may be eligible for RECESS student pricing. RECESS will confirm your school enrollment status.

Rider Expectations

Kindness is key. Community is everything to us. Your safety, comfort, and wellbeing always comes first. Please review the bike safety notes below. These are also posted in the studio, and available as a hard copy upon request.

Listen to your body. Stay hydrated. Drink water throughout your ride as needed. Trust yourself, and be aware of how you’re feeling throughout the ride. Do what feels right and good for you and your body. Take it at your own pace. There is nothing wrong with taking it easy or slowing down - we encourage this. If at any time you feel dizzy or have difficulty breathing, gradually stop pedaling and carefully dismount the bike. You can unclip from your bike by kicking your heels outwards, or by simply removing your feet from the shoes, leaving the shoes clipped into the bike.

Ride safely. We ask all riders, especially those newer to RECESS, to arrive 5-10 minutes prior to class time to get set up on your bike. Ensure that the bike adjustment levers and knobs are properly secured and positioned correctly. An instructor or staff member can help you with your bike settings.

Do not use the RECESS bike without proper footwear. The correct clip-in shoes are required to ride our bikes. The pedals are compatible with Delta and SPD clips.

Riders under 4’11” should not ride the RECESS bike. The bike mechanism and ergonomics are designed for riders above 4’11”.

The RECESS bike has a weighted flywheel and a fixed gear. This means that in order to stop, you must gradually slow your pedal strokes rather than stopping abruptly. If you do need to stop immediately, push down on the resistance knob. Never turn the pedal crank arms by hand. Always keep some resistance on the wheel. Never remove your feet from the pedals while still in motion. If your foot does become disengaged, quickly move your feet to the side and push down on the resistance knob to stop the flywheel’s motion.

Trust the process. Stay in control by executing all core movements and hand positions at a slow pace before attempting to increase your speed. Do not attempt to ride the RECESS bike in a standing position at a high RPM until you have practiced at slower speeds.

Respect the bike. Do not insert any object, hands or feet into any openings, or expose hands, arms or feet to the drive mechanism or other potentially moving part of the bike. Do not dismount the bike or remove your feet from the pedals until both the pedals and the flywheel have stopped completely. If something about your bike doesn’t feel right or comfortable, tell an instructor or staff member.

Respect each other. We ride to the beat of the music, together. If you prefer to do your own choreography, we kindly ask that you ride in the back row. Cell phones are not permitted in the studio room. We ask that you silence your cell phone and stash it with the rest of your items in a locker. If you’re expecting an important call, you can leave your phone at the front desk with us. Our lockers have built in locks and are easy to use. RECESS is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Cancellation Policy for Reservations

In order to cancel a reservation in a RECESS class and return it to your account, you must unreserve by 5 PM the night prior to the class. Once your reservation is canceled, the class will be returned to your account to be used at a future date; the class is not refunded. If you haven't canceled by 5 PM the night before, your scheduled class will be charged to your series.

Running Late

We ask that you call the studio to let us know you are on the way. If you call us at least 2 minutes before class begins, we will hold a bike for you until class begins, though we cannot guarantee you will be given the exact bike you signed up for in the particular class.

Five minutes after the studio door closes and class begins, we won’t be able to let riders in. We respect our riders and care greatly about your safety, and joining after class begins is a distraction. Joining after the warm up would increase the risk of injury.

BIKES AND SPOTS WILL BE RELEASED 2 MINUTES BEFORE CLASS BEGINS. In the event that you do not unreserve your bike by 5 PM the night prior to class, or if you do not claim your bike at least 2 minutes before class begins, then RECESS shall have the right, without any credit or refund to you, to allow others to reserve or use your bike for a fee.

Leaving Early

If you're planning on leaving early, we kindly request that you tell the instructor ahead of time.
